Add one row per graded course. Credits are semester credit hours (or the equivalent your school lists on the transcript). Grade is the reported letter after any curve—use the symbol your institution prints (including +/−). Pass/fail courses that do not carry grade points are usually omitted entirely.

For cumulative projection, enter stats from your transcript: cumulative GPA and total graded credits completed before this semester. If you leave cumulative fields blank, only semester GPA is shown.

Semester GPA = Σ (credit hours × grade points) ÷ Σ (credit hours), using only courses with a letter grade in the table. Cumulative combines prior quality points prior GPA × prior creditswith this term's quality points, then divides by total credits.

This tool uses a common pattern: whole-letter grades sit on the integers (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, …), and plus/minus steps move by 0.3 (e.g. A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3). Some schools omit A+ or use different step sizes; always check your handbook.

Semester GPA isolates one term. Cumulative GPA weights every graded course you have taken. With many credits already on the books, one semester moves the cumulative average less than freshmen might expect—both upward and downward.

Replacement and averaging rules vary: some schools exclude the first attempt from GPA, others average both, and credit counts may differ. This calculator does not model repeat-forgiveness policies—you would adjust rows manually to match your registrar's rules.

High schools sometimes add extra points for AP or honors courses. Most colleges report an unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale for admissions and honors eligibility. This tool is unweighted; if your institution uses a different scheme, map honors courses to the points your policy specifies.
