Your inputs are turned into a single UTC instant (a point on the global timeline), then formatted again in each zone with Intl and the IANA database. That is why DST transitions are reflected automatically: the same instant can show different local times or offsets before and after a clock change.

Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the global reference. Zones are expressed as offsets from UTC, but those offsets move with DST—so "EST" versus "EDT" is error-prone in writing. Prefer IANA names like Europe/Paris for unambiguous scheduling.

Many regions shift clocks in spring and fall; others never do. The gap between two cities can be four hours in one season and five in another. Meeting invites should always carry the instant (UTC or explicit IANA zone) so tools can re-render correctly after rule changes.

When clocks move backward, one local time happens twice. Automated converters pick a single matching instant; for legal or logging use cases near that window, confirm with an authoritative source or store UTC alongside local display.

Send UTC or a calendar invite with embedded zone, list each participant's major city, and avoid "9 AM my time" without naming the zone. Check Friday-for-them / Saturday-for-you date flips when crossing the international date line.
